Regional Peace Gatherings

Would you or your Meeting would be interested in hosting a Regional Peace Gathering?

Why regional gatherings?

Our concern for peace is enriched by joint activity and by community. We would like to arrange and support a variety of small events for Friends and Attenders to get together on a regional basis in the North of Britain. The gatherings would be opportunities for people to learn from and to support one another …

  • Gather for worship, conversation and discussion, reflecting and sharing information and ideas on peace concerns.
  • Meet and support those from neighbouring Area Meetings in thinking and in taking action for peace.
  • Find out about and contribute thinking on different aspects of the work of Northern Friends Peace Board.

How, what and when?

  • We expect these to be be fairly informal and for the format to be flexible.
  • They might be a whole day or just half a day.
  • They might include a shared lunch or act of witness or some other practical or creative action.
  • Saturdays are likely to be the easiest days for most people.
  • We hope the gatherings will be accessible to those who would find it difficult to travel greater distances for other NFPB events.

If you would like to host a Peace Gathering, please get in touch with Philip Austin at the NFPB office: [email protected] 01204 382330 Victoria Hall, Knowsley St, Bolton BL1 2AS

“As Quakers we know from experience that we can and do influence social and political change. We should not be complacent. Faithful attention to our leadings, worship and discernment will lead us to find the right way. We can’t do everything, but we can all do something.”
From the Britain Yearly Meeting Epistle, May 2015
